Normal gear sets are helical cut, they aren't as strong, can't handle as much torque, but I don't see any X16XE ever making more power than an F15 can handle.

Straight cut gears are noisier, stronger and less easy to get into gear, if they're dog engagement.

Just for reference, these are the Quaife prices.

£1350 for a 5 speed straight cut syncro gearset
£495 for an ATB diff
£2235 for a 5 speed straight cut dog engagement gearset
£3025 for a 6 speed straight cut dog engagement gear assembly.

+ VAT

£30 for an F15 from a scrappy.

for a dog sounding box........break the locating pin off the bottom of your speed sensor...
when it rubs on the diff, it whines just like a dog box
