Get a lowering bracket from someone that does tb kits, SBD etc.

It should fit your 16v block, but i dont know whether the alternator pully will line up etc.

simple rob, square piece of mild steel plate with 4 holes in.
just space the holes LIKE THIS:

A= distance between the holes on the standard bracket
B= whatever distance you want to lower it by
then use 2 shorter bolts for the top two holes to attatch the plate to the standard mountong point on the block (cut the standard ones down a bit) and some nuts and bolts for bolting the standard alternator bracket to the new position onto the plate.

wont fit the 16v alt. i tried it with mine, cant remember exactly what the problem was but it was annoying! i just lowered it like dave suggests, then it broke due to spinning to fast or something so i got an sbd on, but the bushs have gone in that.
