chatting with my mate today. cant remember how we got onto it but we were talking about petrol or fuel tanks or something... anyway

he said his cars never has a full tank. he said only time his LET corsa had a full tank it spluttered and kept cutting out.

said he had heard somewhere that you should never fill a corsa up as they do this.

now the guy aint an idiot and isnt the type to belive anything and he rebuilt the engine himself (fully qualified mechanic) so it just seems odd that he had heard this and it seemed to struggle with a full tank.

any ideas? could be something else?

The only thing that is even nearly possible is that a full tank is somehow preventing the fuel pressure regulator return excess fuel into the tank, causing high pressure on the rail and consequent overfuelling ??? Apart from that, I'd say it sounds balls.

early b's suffered with filler neck vent collapsing-when tank fuel vacuum lines would collapse and it was hard for pressure regulator to deliver fuel.
