What the hell does these sensors do?

This one was just unplugged when I took my bumper off

The bottom pic is for the temp display on the MFD.

Lol, its like a plastic thing that clips onto the crossmember behind the bumper.

Is the plug in the top pic unplugged too?

The bottom one was all plugged in, I didn't think it did much so hence why I ripped it out

The top was the one that was dis-connected

Looks maybe like the thermo switch on the rad, that triggers the rad fan.

Na, the fan works a treat, plus thats just below this sensor

i have one just like that disconnected near my headlight. looks like it has broken off from something but doesn't affect the car at all
