On my Asteroid, when I press the a/c button the light is on (on the switch) but I don't hear the usual clunk sort of noise from the engine bay and revs don't change.
Do you think my compressor is dead, or would it do this if it needs a re-gas?
I know you lot are gonna say go take it to an a/c specialist, which is what I will be doing on payday, but I just wondered if anyone here knows about a/c and knows the most likely cause of the problem?

I think a re-gas would do. Had the same thing on the corsa. Had a full regas and worked great
the light did come on, but no click. How long have you not been using it?
I paid £60 for a full vacuum, leak test and regas

It hasn't been working since Christmas time. It did have a re-gas nearly 2 years ago and I used the a/c on a regular basis, but whether the people that did it actually did it properly is another matter entirely...

The system monitors the pressure and if its too low won't lock the compressor up. Get it regassed!

OK when I get paid I'll get it done, hopefully it's just merely out of gas!
