It shouldn't make a difference, but that's just the way it's done.
Everywhere does it different.
In Edinburgh all offers are done by fax....in Aberdeen they still do the old hand delivery method

eaxcatly you point in waiting last minute as bids are confiodential
Also once acdepted you vcannot back out of the process of purchasing the house
I think that as pect of the law should be introduced in England as there are many people who waste peoples time and pull out on completion dates etc

you can back out until contracts are concluded.
It doesnt usually work by offer and a clean acceptance.
Its usually offer, qualified acceptance, another formal letter, maybe a few more, and then a letter concluding the contract.
Up until the final concluding letter you can pull out.

But in scotland don't you have to pay other peoples fee's or survey costs or whatever it is if you back out last minute?!

No...there isn't really the opportunity to back out at the last minute....the contract is usually concluded within a couple of weeks of making the offer.
If you back out in the early stages you don't have to pay the other side's expenses
