Hi,
Right i've recently had a 1.4 8v SRi conversion done to my car! It was running no-cat, with an FSE Power Boost valve as the person i got the engine from didnt have the standard fuel regulator at the time!
Anyway, it was running good for the first month, then my backbox decided to fall off due to shite garage who fitted it a year ago using rubbish pipe which rusted through! So, as you would expect it was running like poo! Got the backbox fitted again, and it didnt seem to drive any better?!
Now its just been through MOT so i've had the FSE removed as i got hold of a standard regulator, and i've also had to have a cat fitted again. It now seems even slower again!
Also, about the economy, my old 1.2 8v used to do around 350 miles to a tank, which when the occasional "fuel economy" thread pops up on here seems to be quite rubbish! And the guys with 1.4s seem to get the best MPG. My SRi is now running on average 250 miles to a tank!
Questions are;
Would a de-cat make a noticable performance difference?
Would the FSE make a noticable performance difference?
Would a small blow in my exhaust cause a noticable power loss?
Is my MPG normal? Would any of the above cause a loss in MPG aswell as power?
Please help me out!
Cheers
Matt

1-It will make a slight difference, not much tho.
2-Doubt it, no point in fse's, the std regulator is fine. FSE just plays with the fuel pressure for no reason.
3-On the backbox, probably not
4-250 miles on a full tank(40ish L) is about 25mpg. Depends a lot on how you drive.
