right chaps,
passed few days this has happend...i get into my car after its been standing for a good few hours, like in the morning and after work etc. when i move off, and for the 1st few feet, upto half a mile, if i apply the brakes, they're really sharp, i hear a 'grinding' sound from the rear of my car (drums?), and the back goes down like the hand-brake is on.
i know i defo need this checked out. just wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be? is it common? i havent got time to bring it to my dad tonight or tomorrow....will it be ok to drive on for a few days, because it seems to be getting progressivly worse. but strange thing is, after about half a mile, it brakes normally again.

My Rover 214 used to do that, Rear Brakes Used to seize on, Then release when i got so far down the road

If you put on your handbrake slightly and brake you will get the same symptoms.
Sounds like the rear brakes are sticking.

yesh thats exactly how it feels.
could it be brake cylender? fluid?
or the brakes?

Maybe they are seized and not returning correctly or have a sticky cable. Strip them down and clean them out see if it helps.

mine does this occasionally. and also ever since its come back out of the garage when i brake the car judders slightly. its going back in though soon and ill ask him look at it.

mine does it every morning, but only if its been pissing it down the night before, I think what it is is that the drums get a layer of rust and shit in them and so make them a bit sharper, as you brake the rust and shit wears away. Ive just had my shoes and cylinders one a few weeks ago so it isnt them.
I just drive out my street with the hand break up slightly till it goes

yes i looked at my drums the other day, i was supprised at the amount of rust.
