do insurance companies require ONLY certified techinican to fit it?
or can it be done by someone with electrical knowledge?

The install has to be to thatham standards and spec's
you may find a local installer willing to stamp a cert for a few quid aslong as you can prove the alarm is installed corectly
or go up and see the guys at sounds alarming in wickham lane,welling just up from the petrol station and see what thay can do for you alarm wise

no i dont live in welling but i am local-ish my mate has used sounds alarming for years. he has just had a cat 1 cobra with a window closure module on his vivaro fully fitted £220 all in
you can pick a thatham alarm up for £60-100 depending what you want and fit it you self the only problem is getting the cert signed and stamped
i posted an alarm tech sheet (for the corsa b) on here some time ago that gives you the full cat 1 install wiring locations/colour codes if your thinking of having ago your self

brillant alarm the toad 606's it comes with a cert yes but it still needs to be stamped and signed by a quaified installer it make it legal (legal isnt the word but you know what i mean)
i think i have the install manual for the 606 in pdf format somewhere
