Didn't you convert yours ?

would it not be cheaper upgrading to a 1.6 than buying one ?

Yeah I did

And thats why I say dont do it.

For me the last 6 months would have been spent better with my balls in a vice.

If you can avoid engine conversions then do! They are prone to going wrong...

you would also need an exhaust from a 1.6 as the 1.0l is a smaller bore etc.

Save up, sell your car, buy a sport with the 1.6 engine already in it, and get all the toys and spec aswell. You'll probably spend just as much on converting the engine in yours as you would changing it for a sport, and then atleast you've got a car that'll be easier to insure and sell on.

Well, lets say it costs you 1600 to do the conversion, then there is the hassle of insuring it. The insurance companies are going to be difficult about it and probably charge you more than you would pay to insure a 1.6 sport.
However if you sold your 1.0 for lets say 1000 pounds, (not sure how much it is worth but im guessing its worth atleast a grand). Then you buy a 1.6 sport for say 1800.
It will already have stuff like alloys, sport interior, sport rear spoiler etc, which I'm guessing your 1.0 doesnt have!

Then it has only cost you 800 pounds to upgrade, so you have got a 1.6 sport for half of what it would cost you to convert your current car.
Also you have the advantage of being able to hear the engine running before you buy it, and maybe even a test drive! Much better idea!

Good idea actually I thought Corsa Sports were more expensive than that. I had a look on auto trader and couldn't find anyway. Going to be a while before i get one though because i just got this 1L a few months ago

Thanks for the advice

Edit: Just for future reference. What other cars are they out there similar to the 1.6 16V corsa, and about the same too insure ?

PS: Mine does have a spoiler

Yeah just noticed you have a spoiler, but the brakes etc and interior are much nice on the sports. Not that I'm slagging your car off in any way, just saying you will get alot more for your money if you just buy a sport. Plenty of other cars in the same insurance bracket but not many are as good value for money as the corsa, which is the main reason I drive a corsa! Anything else that compares to them is either too pricey or too old in my opinion!

Thing is, it might cost more to insure a converted car than it would to insure a car which originally had the engine.

CorsaB4ever, was that labour only?

no engine aswell got x16xe for 345 and the rest was labour but he already had other parts forgot to mention, which he supplied to the garage
