Quick question:
Got myself a 1.4sri corsa, recently head gasket blew so thats been repaired along with a new rad, however since being back on the road which is around a week now the overall power in performance has dropped so much its noticeable.
I myself haven't done much on the engine side of things which is why i was asking if its common or maybe it's just my luck.
Driving down m1 today at points in 5th it wouldn't pass 82/3mph at stayed at around 4200rpm after a little it picked up to around 100/105mph. But it took a good couple of mins (5-10) before it even started to pick up where as before it wouldn't have any problems at all.
Any suggestions? or tips
Ah love being dumb on this side of things
thanks anyhoo.

C'mon guys
Need you opinion and possible solutions.
Is it worth having it re tuned, changing air filters and stuff? Or have we got to reconcile ourselves to a go slow uphill Corsa?

WHen was it last serviced? Perhaps and Oil Change, and changing the air filters and plugs would help if you haven't done it already?

It had a full service when we bought it in August but, that was before the rad went and blew the head gasket. Shouldn't be the oil as that had to be changed with the repair.
Flat spots only noticed since it has come back from garage after the repair.
The engine itself appears to have some form of special air filter kit added (looks like an induction kit but don't think it is) was on it when we bought the car. Can this have been damaged when the gasket blew?
Know bugger all about the engine but it feels to me like it doesn't breath right? Does that make sense? And would this result in a loss of compression/performance?
Sorry rambling a bit.

Sure the headgasket was done properly?
Did you have the head skimmed? Do a compression test...

Head gasket was skimmed yes, been told it can take up to 500 miles of driving before it comes back to normal. Shall see about that.

you are supposed to drive it carefully for around 500 miles if you have been thrashing or putting the engine under load you may have blown the head gasket again.

Was the cars 1st long run out since its repair, up until then it had been driven in 30mph zones so not really thrashed, which in my eyes wouldn't suggest the flat spots in power. Shall see how it goes.

its not just engine speed that will damage it.its loading on theengine i.e. you said you couldnt get it past 80 .did you have your foot to the floor?it might be an idea to re-torq your head bolts to.

When it was at around about 80mph i had my foot nearly fully down. After awhile it picked up but it took it's time.
Will get someone to check out the air filters soon. Head gasket is fine checked that over today.

Mine has had an annoying loss of power, has been going through oil. Its not leeking, so think its the valve
stem seals, or probably more expensive bearings in bottom end.
Just an idea?
