That water is meant to be in the gap.
Thats how the engine keeps itself cool.

As for the pistions, get them sandblasted. Cost me £10 for all four.

can u leave them in and get them sand blasted?or will it fuck everything up ?see 2 put ur valves back into ur head have u got 2 use grinder paste rouge and smooth 2 grind them back into place or some crap ?its a pug 106 1.3 rallye engine.its my run about until the xe is on the road after winter

To reseat the valves, use some grinding paste as you know, and clamp the valve stem into an eletric drill... spin the drill up gently, and gradually back the valve up against the seat, works a treat:

where can i get the grindin paste from ?is it expensive?this is my first ever head ive done so i dont want 2 fuck anything up

get the piston at the top and clean with carb cleaner and wire brush. I did Butlers on here.

Local motor spares store, the most common one is Chemico or something, only a couple of quid usually.
