i have a new LG 50" plasma all setup .

the dvd player came with a mega surround sound package and sounds the nuts but it only works when im watching a dvd...

the surround sound all plugs into back of dvd player and then ive connected the dvd player to the tv using component or can be changed to scart.

i cant find an option to use the audio from the component out put. its gay having these massive speakers and i cant use them unless watching a dvd !

any help would be blinding, cheers

All you need is an audio out on the tv and an audio in on the surround system.

as mav said, connect your sky box directly to your dvd player. I use an optical cable

Eastenders in full 5.1 sounds awesome...

only reason I would have all the speakers running is either during a footy match (to get that hall effect which is generally louder and more immersive) and movies whenever I order them through the box office (those and SkyMovies are the only ones broadcast in Dolby Digital I think?)

Otherwise, if you wanted an improvement in sound then mute your TV and switch the DVD player to play in Stereo mode. You still have audio left and audio right as well as the sub. Will probably sound better than the speakers on your TV.
