I'm trying to decipher what Scoty B said

as others have said, it should work using the red and white connections. I'm trying to look for a manual for you online...

cheers mate, Only place I found were ones where you had to buy and can't browse on line...

Had phono from telewest to tv
and telewest to dvd

still couldn't get it.

is there an option in the Telewest menus to switch the sound over to phono out?

Found my instructions and it's working..WOOOHOOO

Video out from telewest box L/R to video out DVD L/R phono cables..

DVD set to video and hey presto all working got surround with the TV too....

I'm sure I tried that before but..

If he's wanting to listen to the TV through the surround the Telewest would need to loop through the DVD player (like you would and old VHS) which he can't do.

Can't be done, only way you could achieve it is upgrading the DVD to one with a tuner.

What have you not read the rest of the post..

It's done,

Telewest hooked right through dvd surround system....All tv now through surround system so.........
