if you plan to get vernier pulleys and a remap than do it, if not then dont bother with cams.
think about it this way:
cams: £300
vernies: 180
mapping: £450
thats about a grand for maybe 5-10 bhp.
then you would be looking at revving to around 7500 to make the most of them which would require SBD rollers and ARP rod bolts just incase. so theres another £200....
I hate putting people off modding their engines but unless you are going for tb's or custom management I wouldnt bother with cams. If you ask others that have spent silly money on similar setups (broster would agree im sure) they will tell you the same.
save he 1k and put it towards a decent second hand tb setup.

it was about that mate, but that was with an engine that revved to 8000 rpm on tb's with custom management and mapped by Noble motorsport.
