Recently got a nice 2nd hand 1400 16v, its been rebuilt, port and polished and ready to go, took it down y'day along with my car to get it fitted and the mechanic tried to say it wasnt gona be so easy, he said the mounts wudnt line up, the fuel pipes wudnt connect, the tacho cable was different and a list of other things. also said the exhaust wudnt line up but i know that anyway. the engine comes with all the bits, gearbox, ecu, transponder, chip etc. is what he said true and what sholud i do

its true that it isnt a straight swop and there are lots of differences. sounds like he hasnt done a conversion before.
I have done a few 1.4/1.6 16v engines into 1.2 16v corsas and they are pretty straight forward. exhaust is different as the 1.2 has the cat in the downpipe, fuel lines are the same though as are the mounting points. need to use the mounts off the 1.4 16v engine though.
wiring is a bit tricky as well as the 1.2 ecu is on the engine not inside the car so the loom needs to be stripped and pulled back through into the cabin and a new loom created.
sounds to me like he hasnt tried too hard and is wishing he didnt take the job on

yea he souded like he cudnt reali be arsed to be honest, he said he cudnt do it til i got all the bits,which i have except for the mounts,so i had to bring it all back with me. i have the loom and all so cud i just use that, was mayb going to give it ago myself and see how far i get
