do they just heat the engine quicker from cold??

Think it warms the cat up to make it more efficient quicker.

erm ok, so this isnt gonna bother me removing it then
good cos ill have a aftermarket manifold on the way soon 
just need to sort out which is the best all rounder inlet and then im set

removing it will do no damage. gsi c16xe's didnt use them

gsi c16's had a heated lambda sensor.....duno if that made a difference tho

bin it, but bung the sensor bit up near the battery tray... dont rip that out...

and ONLY unplug the green plug, the other one on the same loom needs keeping, or the EML will be on.

sensor, there is only 1 plug to unplug, the big 2 pin one and a vacumm pipe

it is too lean off the mixture on start up (due to runs rich on start up)
so the rich mixture dosen't damage the cat

well, there is a sports cat or my other chioce a simple std one but stainless with stainless internals aswell, had one before and it was good
