how do i know if the ecu is playing up and can i reset the ecu wot does it do when u reset it. where is it on my car i have a 1995 corsa sri 1.4 16v

You can get them bench tested at most Motorfactors. Take it in and get them to stick it on thier machine.

Yea, but it wont do shit. Unhook the battery for a few mins and it will clear it's memory.

As Ed explained, you're best off taking it somewhere to be looked at but reset the ECU properly before doing so.
To reset the ECU, disconnect the battery as explained above but leave it off for around an hour to be sure.
Reattach and start up the engine but don't touch the throttle; let her tick over for a few minutes while it reconfigures then take her for spin driving as you normally would....if you still have problems then take the ECU out (it's behind the casing near your accelerator in the footwell) and take it to MotorFactors.
