Sorry if this sounds stupid, but everybody says the 8v Corsa engines are 'bulletproof'. What do you mean??

i always heard 8v engine could take alot more of a battering, well my friends 2ltr 8v calibra did.

When Vauhall were first testing the 8v they literally shot it with a gun and it still worked.

they hardley ever break cam belts, can rev over 7krpm ok, unlike 16v jobs - snap cambelts, bend valves, fuk engines!

i put a piston throu the side of one, 1.8 cav 
and took a 1.2 8v corsa down the strip at santa pod while it was knocking

ive got the 8valve in my car, revs to 6 and a half, i give it death everywhere, never gone wrong, never gone bang! bulletproof!

yer they get running problems but very rarely actually "blow up"

only reason i asked is cos on my 1.4ls (8v) first the head gasket went then i bent a piston (so ive been told???) that one certainly wasnt bulletproof hehe, but it had done nearly 120k

My old fella had a 2ltr 8v @ 217k and still went very well.
