As a few people on here may kno i had my 1.4 16V engine changed for a 1.6 16V engine. How ever i kept all the original 1.4 parts on the car, like gearbox, ecu, wiring loom etc. I was wondering how much of a difference if any wud a 1.6 ecu make, because i have managed to source one. Cheers guys

get the 4 letter code off the ecu and the year of your engine and loom

then I can tell you if they are compatible as there are some wiring differences in the later ecu's. I have the book here with all the codes

You might find the 1400 ecu will cause your engine to run lean, as a 1600 engine is going to need more fuel etc.

I'm about to do a similar thing with mine but 8v versions. As far as I've been told you should run the 1.6 ECU for the reason Vaux Lad gives above.

My engine should be back in next weekend and I'm planning to post here with pics and any problems/solutions I encountered
