Got a new plastic cover for the outside door handle for when I delock.
It is primed and I need to paint it a silver colour.
As the part is already primed do I need to prep it for painting?.
Also what grade sand paper to you use to dull the finish before applying the laquer and how much to you sand it?. A couple of light wipes over the part?

Maybe just go over with wet and dry paper before priming to get a surface the paint can stick to.

I've done a painting tutorial which is in Tutorials and FAQ...
But, what you need to do is go over the handle with some wet 800 grit wet and dry to smooth the primer.
You don't sand the colour if you are laquering it and you don't sand the laquer unless there is a reason, like runs that need sanding out with some 2000 grit and a block.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the late reply.
ed - I thought you had to dull the paint finish on things before the laquer goes on?.
