The thing that winds the belts back in has stopped working right on my corsa. The drivers side one doesnt pull it back in when you take your belt off. Its fairly annoying and isnt very safe as the belt can become fairly loose while you drive, not great if you have a crash!
Do i just need to yank the bit of trim off that covers it? Im hoping theres just something caught up in it stopped it going back in, but if it is broken, will this be expensive to fix?

you mean the tensioner?
if so, remove it, clean it up, see if it still springs.

it should free up with some wd40 and a bit of working......if its seized, it'll prob stay in the tensioned position tho, so shouldnt worry about it being unsafe

Ok im going to sort this today . How does the trim come off that covers the lower part of the belt? Does it just pull off or it is screwed/cliped on somewhere? Seems abit tight .

it clips on and secured with 2 torx bolts. need to remove the bottom pulley to get it off as well.
dont need to do this to remove the tensioner though.
