My 1.5 td isuzu has a glow plug bulb on the dash. When you turn the key to on you have to wait for it to switch off and then flick the key to start. It won't start unless the light switches off and if it is cold, it will take about 3s.

isnt that the same for all diesels? fiesta and my mums old 1.9TD citroen zx had that light too?

Not the same on all diesels as some use heated fuel filters.

As ed said not the same on all diesels. Nowadays diesels have become much more refined.
