what sort of tap is does it sound metalikey (i cant spell) does it sound top or bottom of the engine

Sounds like not enough oil. Get oil in there before you seize the damn thing,

this may sound realli dumb but mine used 2 hav tapping noise comin out of engine, went 2 vauxhall n turned out it was one of the screws bolting the manifolds heatshield down, the screw thread had rotted away so the heatshild was loose n rattled with the vibrations, cud b that, altho wudnt explain the temperatures :S

common heatshield problem.....its not a tap..thatd be a rattle
