dont reckon it well be right again if repaired, although on other hand well be a shame to break it...

Looks like a "traditional" RS Escort to me. Try doing a bit of research, and you'll find the Mk 1,2,3 and 5 RS 1600/2000's were all very similar. Biggest standard production engine, fairly basic bodystyling over standard, alloys and uprated suspension. If anything that style was the last of the traditional RS escorts, before the turbo's took centre stage .

Its just pathetic people saying its not a real RS, I dont think the public decide that, Ford gave it an RS badge, its an RS.

i didnt say it wasnt a true rs beacuse it doesnt have a turbo, as the mk1&2 rs2000 and mk3rs1600i and few others didnt either, however these were more desirable at the time and even more so now, its just imo the mk5 and 6 rs2000s were just very boring and lacked that "special" something that most rs,s ford have produced have....all imo of course...

as much as its deviating away from the origins of the thread what was said above is all a matter of opininion but ALL RS's of past had a certain aura about them that made them the most desireable cars of their era not to mention to this day, this my whether it has the badge or not has none of these things.

gutting though, a mate of mine wrapped his RS2000 4x4 round a tree a few years ago and it was written off as they couldnt source the parts to fix it

It's not a 'true' RS in as far as RS stands for Rally Sport.

All the rubbishy FWD cars that got RS badges were merely a clever yet cynical marketing ploy on the part of Ford, in an attempt to either maintain or recapture the success they had with more accurately badged 'RS' cars that were actually used in Rallying.
