Firstly can i say, my search funstion aint working or else id have done that.
secondly i have tried just trying to force it off by pulling it.
do i have to resort to a puller or is there any other tricks?

should i sort of stand at the side while undoing bolts and removing it just incase??

mine did not have an airbag and the removal was as follows
-pull off the centre cover to expose the horn wires
-disconnect these wires and remove centrecover
-undo the bolt in the centre of the wheel
-put hands on opposite sides of the wheel and wiggle it about to loosen it and pull it off
im not particularly strong and i managed to remove mine so not much brute force is required

Leave the bolt on two turns so the wheel doesnt hit you in the face when it comes off.
Wiggling it is OK, but a steering wheel puller tool is a better option.

steering wheel puller mate, i ended up making my own as i kept breaking the vaux ones
also i used a sliding hammer, was a right pig
