How can i tell if mine is a 16valve? as the rocker cover with "ecotec" is missing.

it will be a 16v, the 8v's didnt have rocker covers as such

what years it?

16valves sound..higher pitched and are quicker (still painfully slow) Look around for some pics of the engines.

just imagine that without the black bit in the middle, if yours looks like that then its a 16 valve

It looks exactly same without the Ecotec labled plastic cover on.

Also, the engine will have a double over head cam design which looks vastly different to single over head cam design. If you can't tell or figure out the difference, close the bonnet of your car and put the keys in a safe place.
