i can understand the fuel trim fault, but not the bank 1 bit.

fuel trim controls injector duration whereas bank 1 usually refers to the DIS pack

Bank 1 is cylinders 2&3, although i think that description is wrong as in my fault codes book fault code p0170 refers to the lambda sensor. that could also give the symptoms you are describing.

had alot of problems with lambda sensor before, with my GSi, it kept ripping the head clean off them lol.

we fitted a new lambda sensor at the weekend as thats what i thought was up at first.

P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1)
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P0172 System Too Rich (Bank 1)
P0173 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 2)
P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2)
P0175 System Too Rich (Bank 2)

all of those codes are lambda controlled

impossible to say really.

if i were you i would unplug the lambda from the loom. this will cause the ecu to replace the missing signal with a pre determined one. run the car (em light will be on) . then clear the fault codes. read them to make sure they are clear, then plug in the lambda. run it again and see which codes come up. if the code 0170 re-appears its likely to be lambda thats causing it. also look at your plugs, post a pic if you can as they can give lots of clues about whats going on. (rememer which plug is from which cylinder tho)

u2u me and i might have something of interesst for you.
