Got my 2.0 brakes waiting to go on.

Know what I'm doing up to the point of bleeding the brakes ?

The guide in tutorials is great for doing the job ,but can any more light be shed on bleeding them ?

get a pressure bleeding kit, £10 from halfrauds. does the job properly with no hassle and in quater of the time. perfect pedal feel everytime as well.

Do the rear brakes need done as well though ?

yes, do the rears as well. without a pressure kit it takes about an hour with an assistant.

with a pressure kit it takes 25 mins and just stand back and watch it do the work.

Lol really that easy ??

Read inthe tutorial that rears dont need done unless you lose a lot of brake fluid

i always do all 4.

if the tools are out, why not?

honestly, pressure bleeding kits are the best way to do it. come with full instructions and you cant go wrong. Make sure you do them in sequence tough.

But if I havent touched the rear brakes why bleed them ?

If they are in sequence then is bleeding the front not in connection with the rear ?

because it will flush the old brake fluid out of the system. over time brake fluid will develop tiny air bubbles, these make your pedal feel soft. I change my brake fluid once a year.

why fit new brakes and use old fluid?

you dont know if you have air in the rears, and even if you havent, its most likely got pish old fluid in it so run some clean stuff thru, dot 4 or above.

Make sure you give the bleed nipple's plenty of WD40 before you get started. They tend to snap of very easily, especially the rear ones.

And on that note , Ive just come in from trying to remove a rounded bleed nipple , on the new brakes ...

bugger, try some mole grips. Dont grip it too tightly though or you may crush it they are only soft metal. Then use a new nipple from your old calipers, dont put it back on

Ive not even taken anything off my car.

Was just checking the caliper so make sure everything came lose etc.

Dont have mole grips , and I dont think the nipples are the same ?

They should be the same, the only way you'll get it off is mole grips really. Or hammer a socket onto it, get the size smaller than it should be and whack it on.

Your not having much luck, go to Halfords and get some mole grips, they always come in handy anyway so it wont be a waste of money
