and its not in gear, your not giving it no revs.. but it sits just under 2k revs for about 5-10 seconds,,, why is this happening... asking on behalf of a mate!

i have a corsa with x14xe mine revs to about 1300 when starting then settles in a few secs which is quite normal.
Revving as high as that sounds like a sensor playing up, it could be an engine tmep sensor or something, cos when they start they pump more fuel into the engine to warm it up, if the sensor is faulty it may give faulse readings, do the paper clip test, or even better, get down to halfords and get the vauxhall fault code reader, it comes in useful quite alot, only about £15 and find out if somethings not right.

P.S what engine is in it?
