right peeps i have my eye on a set of few sets of alloys but there all et 38 or 40 and there 17s, ive seen the odd set in et45 but i mean the odd set, so im wondering if you can have them milled down or machined down by 10mm or is it dangerous? has anyone ever done this or know where i can get it done? cheers

it's probably what aftermarket wheel mnfr's do to create wheels for sucha variety of cars, so i can't see the problem with it theoretically.
in reality, check how much meat there is in the centre section of the wheel and wether you'd be happy to have that 7mm thinner.

agreed.
you'd need a pretty damn hefty lathe to get wheels on.

mill you could just bolt each wheel flat to the table.
on a lathe you'd need a set of 17" chucks wouldn't you? or how would you do it?
not disbelieving you; just intreiged.

Wouldn't do it, the wheels are drilled and countersunk to a certain depth, then the backs are milled flat. You would be weakening the wheel if you milled it....
And lathing a wheel. You would need a fecking powerfull lathe to do that. When the wheels are manfactured they are milled so I don't see why you shouldn't replicate that process.

How was the wheel hitting the ball joint? Surely it wouldn't even fit over the brakes if it was going to hit the balljoint
