as above changed the lamda sensor for a new one but i didnt reset the ecu is it fused ? its a x14xe engine still getting black soot out the back should i take the fuse out how long should i leave it out for to reset it so it pics up the new sensor?

disconnect the battery for an hour. (not that re-setting the ecu does much apart from clearing the fault codes)
black soot= running rich

over fuelling,
i had this with my xe last year made half of the road outside my house black with soot.
could be the temp sensor thats a likely suspect. faulty sensor tellin the ecu the engines runnin cold and therefore pumping in more fuel, or could be an air leak on a vacumm hose,
could well be ur lamda like but the ecu should pick up the new sensor.
