My mates blown his engine internals, how much for a rebuild you reckon (standard ish spec) and no he cant claim on insurance!!

depends on "blown his engine internals" might only be headgasket!

according to him, tensioner on timing belt was playing up!! And snaped timing belt and has sent pistons, seals and other things to pot and green flag guy said some other internals had gone!!

has the head been taken off yet? its likely to have major damage, but it annoys me when 'green flag' blokes try and diagnose faults without having a clue what they are on about.

i dont think an insurance company would fix a blown engine anyway mate...fully comp or not (if thats what you mean)

much cheaper to source and fit new engine (unless of course his engine is ultra low mileage)

Get a new engine, a 1.4 16 valve/1.6 16 valve can be had for around £250 now

Insurance does not cover engines thats your own fault for not looking after it.

Warrentys do but it has to be newish to have one.


And to answer your question i did a similar thing with one of my cars its cheaper to get a new engine.

yeah 2ltr, how do you do this, i believed you only pay for what the engine has come out in insurance i.e. engine from calibra turbo, insurance is for standard calibra, what if you just source engine without car whats happens to insuance
