Does anybody actually adjust this to what grade they are using. I am running super unleaded which is 98 ron but have not changed the plug on my 1.2 8v spi.

Will this effect the way in which the car runs?

pointless running super on a 1.2 8v

octane plug only used if running low-octane fuel in the eu (92RON,. etc) if you runb 95+ then leaving it on 95 is fine...

if you run 95+ with the plug set to 92 then it will just fcuk it all up

The only thing the octane plugs let you run 4 star or unledaded. The engine has a knock sensor that thets it learn what octane level fuel you are running...

wrong, NZ/SZ engines have a RON plug instead of a knock sensor. Most 1.2/1.4 8v's came with the 91/95RON plug which can be reversed depending on what fuel you use. makes a difference if the RON plug is set to 95 and you use 95, not even sure you can still get 91 in the UK, can you? Vauxhall can supply a RON plug which is 95/98 if you want to take advantage of Optimax etc. wil advance the timing to suit the engine
