well it didn't....could be due to the fact i still have no EM light on the dash so i guess its likely to be an electrical fault. What possible faults could it be? knackered ECU, broken fuel pump relay 
I've checked the HT leads, although i kinda guess how they go, firing order 1, 3, 4, 2 and i've put them on the dizzy cap 1, 2, 3, 4, from the bottom upwards, is this right?
Anything else i should check? It turns over alright just doesn't really attempt to start...

i think the order is (looking from passenger side) top left 1, top right 2, bottom left 3, bottom right 4, mite be different mines a 1.4 ls
