it says on a piece of paper in the box that came with my lowering springs

PLEASE NOTE you must shorten original bumpstops by 20mm MINIMUM"

could anyone tell me what this means please, and what are the bumpstops and where abouts are they

bumpstops are on the damper, stops the suspension 'bottoming out' and. I'd just leave it and see how it goes with the standard stops, if the suspension keeps hitting then get a hacksaw out and chop some of the bump stop off.
