Hi,
looking into buying a car currently with a 1.6 16v engine in it....but there is internal damage....just wondering how much i would be looking at to have the main block replaced with another one?

crickey i was thinking it wouldnt be so much.
thought all you would need to do is disconnect the components from the block, hoist out and then re connect components 
when your looking at that price might as well do the 2.0 16v route

it all depends how much you get the new engine for...
few bits and bobs... it all mounts up
obviously a mechanic is going to charge you to do the job...

you could pick up a 1600 for around 300-400 quid with EVERYTHING needed. It'll be a piece of piss to fit because you already have a 1600 fitted so no changes need to be made.
You can then sell whatever still works from your old set up i'e you will have gearbox,ecu, head, alternator etc basicly whatever you have left that isnt broke.
If you can do the work yourself it shouldnt end up costing that much at all

i have a 1.4 8v Spi engine atm if i want to put in a 16xe what other mechanical changes will i have to consider??

^fuel pump... fuel lines..... ecu... loom.. exhaust/CAT...
