He could of done. I was out in a 1.4 16v SRi last night and all it had was a full exhaust system and it was quicker than a VTR. Think it was just a good engine though rather than the exhaust giving it a big power increase!

I still doubt a 1.4 would beat a vtr though afterall a vtr is 1.6

Although if the 1.4 has a superchip etc then it would go faster i suppose but still cant see it happening

No i know it wont be automatically quicker, but from what ive seen my mate has a vtr and others have 1.2 and 1.4 corsas and when they have "raced" if you want to call it that, the vtr is faster. But yea sometimes a vtr wont always be the quicker of the cars but from my experience they are!

i've noticed on speeds like on bypassed my 1.4 sport keeps up/goes quicker than VTRs...

i just put it down to having 16v helping it climb the revs in a short gear box???

engine size doesnt mean speed, 1.6 zetec engines have same horsepower as the 1.4 16v sri engine.

later VTR's are 100bhp. 1.4 16v SRi's/Sports should be able to keep up with the pre facelift VTR's, but i reckon the newer ones would have the edge.
VTS vs GSi/1.6 Sport isnt a race, so much more a thrashing from the VTS hehe

GSi is quicker than the VTR though
