i'm going to get a c20xe tomorrow but, getting it home will be ok but when i get home how will i unload the engine into my garage? is an engine crane needed or can an engine be picked up by loads of people? never done this before as you can tell!

Id defos recommend an engine lift/crane!
You will be able to rent them from a DIY rental shop etc

take the gearbox off and a few people should be able to lift it... its very heavy though....

I picked up the block on my engine, that was fucking heavy. The head is well heavy too, and so is the gearbox. I dropped the whole engine on my finger once too, was not fun

Two people should be able to lift it out of your car though, so long as the gearbox is detatched.

3 of us managed to lower a C20XE with F20 box out of the boot of my corsa, but wouldnt say we were really carrying it! Engine crane would make life a lot easier

my mate and my other mate carried it for about 5yards and lifted it into a van, then at the other end, they lifted it out, carried it about 20-25yards, that was without box on tho.

how long does it take to remove the gearbox? never done it so need to know and what bolts need undoing? cheers for the help guys!

only a few bolts to take off the gear box, i think, dont quote me tho

Only need two people if the gearbox is off the car. Two should be able to lift it and chuck it about quite easily - I've moved them a few times with Broster and he's got really weedy arms and everything!

will also help if you drain out any remaining fluids (ie. oil & coolant)
