There is a wire cable that runs along the top between the rear wheels. I want to wrap a towel around a certain part of it to stop my exhaust hitting the axle. What is this wire cable??? and will it be affected if i were to wrap a towel around it tightly??

its the hand breakcable, dont to this!!
Undo the exhaust clamp on the rear box and rotate the exhaust clockwise if i remember right this will turn the bend up and away from the rear axle stopping the banging, trial and error is the only way
