this happened to my old escort rs turbo, turned out my disc had a hairline crack on it... under normal breaking it was fine - under heavy breaking it felt like those rumble strips as you approach round-a-bouts... not much fun!

hmm, still - ive heard it happen mate, specially if for example, the disc hasnt warmed up fully - slam on the anchors and the immediate build up of heat can warp or crack the disc

if its only under breaking and your feeling it through the pedal id say it must be from the front end braking system (duh) either disc or pad

- ive never done this for a car but i do it on my bike....

get the wheels off the ground - spin your alloy, you should hear a very faint scuff from the pad and disc... if it sounds uneven then its a disc

did you change the pads when you got your discs? maybe your pads are f$*ked
although, once again - if you brake hard on new brakes they can glaze... giving you 5hit braking and possibly a squeak :s

If its just coming thru the pedal and not the steering wheel then its the rear drums. If the steering wheel is vibrating/juddering then its the front discs.

there is a possibility of unbalanced tyres causing this.
i felt on the steering wheel lots of juddering when braking and it turned out the wheels were not balanced right.
hope this is it.

Have you checked the drums yet to see if they are out of round? As I said judder through the pedal without the steering wheel shaking will almost certainly be warped drums and its not uncommon, ive warped 3 sets in 5 years but it was mainly due to running too much bias on the rear and also braking hard down from 80mph to traffic lights then sitting at the lights with your brakes on. It cooks just one area of the drum and warps them but you do need some good heat to do it.

buckled wheels if it the wheel shakes about on motorway maybe and if the handbrake light comes on turning corners you need you brake fluid topping up (may look full but it isn't.)
