is it worth taking spare tyre out and replacing it with tyre weld stuff?

there is a limit on how fast you can drive and how far once you use it as its only a temporary measure to get you home

I've used it twice now, does what is says on the tin, but tire places hate it cause it makes a right mess when they take it off.
for the weigh saving it's worth it.
then can stick in the spare if you're going abroad.
