I love my Meriva...

As fas as I'm aware, if you change the HU, you can't use steering controls anymore

i thought there were adapters for them to convert them so the basic functions could be used, have a look on the ice sites and phone a few places up .... i thought you could but i do stand corrected

have a look here, the zafira one might fit and depends on your unit model. I got a corsa one last year for £35 so shop around. I think autoleads manufacture them. It wasn't listed for my model or year but it fitted.
