Just bought a full new cat back system and the rasping is still as bad as it has been...
Except that now lots of lovely white/petrolly smelling smoke is coming out new tailpipe... Really fooked off coz it cost quite a bit and i now believe my old exhaust was peobably okay... 
So what am i to think now??? Perhaps the cat is fooked? -what would the signs of this be? exhaust feels really restrective and car has stalled while driving just after high (4k!) revs a couple of times in the last few days...
help!

exhausts normally rasp if ya start removing silencers or cats, could be a blockage for defo. Get a second hand cat knock the middle out of it and bolt it on see if it improves

cat could have collapsed
i think they are like honey comb tubes inside it, so if they have broken down and folded into each other, they could be causing more restrictions.
