smother some glue all over it and sprinkle on loads of those hundreds and thousands you get with ice cream

A lightly scented gift wrap 
Or...... carpet, vinyl, leather, PVC, burberry curtains, spray it, felt, alcantara, novasuede, dusters, mink, pigskin, card, velour, more wood, jism, metal chequer plate, metal, cream, lacquer it, varnish it, stella.
Some are more practical than other but all are readily available from your local high street (except, perhaps, the mink)
