Its common as feck for them to leak. Im only using 15W 40 Valvoline ATM as a flush-oil, after 1K miles its comming out and some posh 5w 40 fully sinthetic going in. My Valvoline cost me £6 for 5 litres from ASDA of all places. Never thought i'd be sticking oil from a SUPERMARKET in my engine!!

If you actually look at vauxhalls oil it isnt a particularly fine quality. The comma 10 40 my local factors sell is actually a better quality oil than vauxhalls.

around the oil pump was where mine was leaking.

i replaced both sump gaskets, oil pump gasket, oil pump seal, oil dipstick holder thingy camshaft seal just to be sure and it still leaked!

what i found is that if it appears to be coming from the oil filter/oil pump where it joins the sump, it could be the metal spacer in the sump gasket that causes the leak.
the spacer was half way accross the oil pump and halfway across the block, stopping the sump and oil pump being sealed!

so in the end it was a pretty simple fix!

Why is it a common problem for the engine to piss oil out of every hole?

If two surfaces aren't mating together to make a tight seal, you use a gasket.

Does the XE have more gaskets than other engines or something??
