What if u put power into an amp,, but u dont connect it up to any subs, just leave it on?

i heard it buggers up the resisters or some such thing inside it?

just wondered if it actually does fook anything up or not

lol. good point. Mate had a complex boot build n blew his subs, couldnt be arsed to take it all apart, so he just cut the wires going to the blown subs, n just left his amp as it was.

hasnt connected anything up to it yet so dunno if it'll be fooked or not.

dont bother me, i just wondered if itll fook it up, cause my amplifier in my bedroom wont even switch on unless speakers are connected.

If the amp has no protection against this then it will fail fairly quickly. Running an amp without speakers basically places an infinately high load on there, which becomes heat very quickly. Even if the amp does shut off damage may already have been done.

Easily fixed - just take the fuse out.

do u know what he'd look for for damage, and can it be easily repaired...? if the amp does have a protection system, do you know what its name is?

damage could be anything and its usually called Overload protection

i have a 600w amp that is not connected to my door speakers yet, works wen i change to my sub(sometimes)normally, if there was to much power, correct me if im wrong, wouldnt it just turn itself off??

its gonna heat up like fuck, and eventually go kaput, just take the fuse out from the engine side! job done!
