right, so far my engine spec is as follows: (x16xe)

mantzel powerbox
piper x filter
full exhaust
de-cat
gas flowed head
and 4 branch fanimold (coming soon)

im going to get it re-mapped but im thinking bout putting cams in first.
the problem is i need to keep reliability and economy. will cams affect the running and fuel consumption much? are they going to make much difference to performance?

ps, can anyone tell me which cam to go for? and what are duplex valve springs all about?

Mild cams will make it slightly lumpy on idle, but no so much that you'll find it a problem to drive or anything. Fuel consumption should go up as you'll be burning more fuel.

With a nicely mapped ECU, you should be able to reduce this a little, but don't expect miracles.

Performance wise you should notice a nice healthy increase in power - normally 10bhp is do-able.

Any cam from Piper, Kent, Schrick will do the job they're all pretty much the same.

I chose Piper.

Are Piper cams and Pipercross Air filters the same company?

No. Why would you even think that?

Why do people call up Pipercross when they want Piper Cams? (mainly Halfords...)

Pipercross, Northampton
Piper Cams, Kent

I wouldn't change from standard cams until you have throttle bodies.

Duplex springs I assume are just stronger to handle more rpm (or double springs, which again, are just stronger)

i have kent cams in mine, just the fast road ones as you need to pocket the pistons if you go any wilder..... i wouldnt bother till you have omex/dta management as you cant dial them in properly without verniers. i wouldnt have got mine if i had to pay full price for them....they were 100pounds
