You can't judge your MPG by the value of the fuel you're putting in when the price of petrol is constantly changing.
Go by the amount of fuel instead - should see better or at least, more accurate readings.

£40 over two months? Why bother filling up at all?

I get 35 miles PER GALLON (use proper figures, the size of a gallon doesn't change every week) from the 306 if I'm heavy footed. More like 45 if I drive it sensibly.
35mpg is 100miles to £10, for you who insist on such figures.

If MPG has dropped i'd look at the following...
1st check silly things like tyre pressure, wheel allignment & brakes binding then i'd look at...
Dirty Air/fuel Filter?
Coolant Temp Sensor fault
Air temp/Mass meter fault
Also check the colour of your plugs, it will take maybe 1-1.5K miles before they show your running rich (unless your super-rich) but they will be a good indication. Good luck

Then you have a petrol leak or a tank the size of a thimble.
