i'd guess that you need to replace the cylinder.
just a guess though.....

You need to check both really. Could be one isn't doing enough or the other adjusted up too much.

I decided to get my rears looked at while the car was in...
Big old groove in the rear drums and shoes were a tad worn...
I think they were the original 118k items

well i mean it locks on when iu apply the handbrake and leave it for a bit...
sometimes it has to be really banged off using a good bit of throttle...
also the carpulls that way, cud it be siezed?

could be the adjuster spring has came off.. common fault either that or it needs replaced...

Na, it's normal. Mine does it and I know a few people who have had the same problem. Probably something WD40 will solve as it is probably caused by a part rusting - but it's only the handbrake. If it does it all the time though then you have a problem

my calibra used to do this.
i'd recommed you remove the wheel and empty the drum of whatever's in there.
probably loads of dust. they may be cusing it to stick.

has something been changed in the brakes recently? i remember when i had a few bits sorted and changed at mot time the car handle a bit funny cos i had to wear the new parts in

um well not really the rear axle was changed and the brake line on that side wasnt done up properly and so leaked...
this was noticed and fixed at MOT a couple of months ago and its been getting dodgy in last month or so but no changes since the MOT

ugh.. rear brakes are messy bastids to work on the pages of my haynes thats the rear brakes atre on are stuck together with grease
its probably a spring after coming off....

take the lip off the inside of the drum and replace the springs. Also check the adjuster fork
